This topic may not fall strictly under the heading of “cybersecurity” but I think it’s a great real-world example of the continuously escalating threats that we all face when so many of our day-to-day activities depend on technology.
Security researchers recently revealed a flaw in Honda’s keyless entry system that could potentially affect “all Honda vehicles currently existing on the market.”
This particular vulnerability isn’t something that cybercriminals can deploy over the internet - they have to be in close physical proximity to the vehicle - but it’s scary, nonetheless.
